| Sage is 7 years old and one of the 9 cougars at the reserve. These animals are also known as "the cat of many names" and there are more names in the dictionary for cougars than for any other animal in the world. Their status is now "special protected mammal" and in Florida, known as panther, now total less than 100. Otherwise known as a mountain lion or puma, they are one of North America's largest cat. The male can weigh up to 150 pounds, and the female is between 65-90. They have extraordinary vision due to the larger eyeball, pupil and lens size compared to other carnivores. Untamed Adventures is happy to help in the care and feeding of Sage whose favorite food is pork roast. Amira is approximately 12 years old and is the only caracal resident at the reserve. Caracals are mostly found in regions of Northern Africa, the Arabian pensinsula and southwest Asia. They weigh an average of 35 lbs and are strictly carnivorous. Caracals are listed as a rare species and Untamed Adventures is happy to help with Armira's care and feeding of her favorite food, chicken gizzards. |
