UA Adopt-A-Road monthly clean up. Next one: Saturday 4/26 Time: 10:00 a.m. We have extended our commitment to the Adopt-A-Road program sponsored by Clean It Up, Green It Up and will be responsible for Florida Blvd. between A1A and Penman Rd. The clean up takes about an hour and afterwards we find a place to eat and socialize. This event is once a month, and hopefully we will have fun getting together as we do something to help keep our environment clean. Beaches Festival Parade - Sunday 4/27 Time: 12:30 (lunch), 2:00 p.m. (parade) Every year we get together to cheer on the local groups and clowns and shriners as they parade down 2nd street in Jacksonville Beach for the opening day parade. We will meet for lunch first at 12:30 at Milano's Restaurant 325 N. 9th Ave N. at the corner of 9th Ave and 3rd Street in Jacksonville Beach. Milano's is behind Harry's Restaurant which is facing Third St. Their phone # is 339-0909. After we eat we will take our chairs and walk over to 2nd Street. If you can't join us for lunch you will find us at the corner of 2nd St. and 9th Ave. Please plan to join us for this annual celebration and cheer for the wild women that participate in the parade. ST. AUGUSTINE ALLIGATOR FARM AND ROOKERY - SATURDAY 5/10 Cost: $30 (advance), Time: 5:00 p.m. (4:00 carpool) DINE ON THE WILDSIDE (BENEFIT FOR H.A.W.K.E.) We attended this very unique event last year, and plan to do so again. The St. Augustine Alligator Farm is bursting with all kinds of herons, egrets, woodstorks, and others that make this place their rookery each year to breed and hatch their young. Each year a benefit is held for H.A.W.K.E. where the public is able to come after hours and has the entire park to explore. Tickets are on sale at the website at H.A.W.K.E. right now and for $30.00 you will be permitted entrance to the farm all day, dinner is provided along with tours of the boardwalk and rookery, music and live presentation by Melanie Stage Cain, president of H.A.W.K.E. Here is their promo for this event: "Dine on the Wild Side Ticket includes: a full day's admission to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm and complete BBQ or vegetarian dinner. Jerry Stalvey cooks and serves his famous BBQ chicken) complete with baked beans, slaw, rolls, and tea. Vegetarians will have food tofu sauted with vegetables and served over a bed of rice from the Gypsy Cab Company; or cheese stuffed pastry shells and pasta donated by Jim's Place. Starting April 15th you can purchase advance tickets at the Alligator Farm, Music Matters (Riverside plaza), St Johns Vet (N. of Target), or Jims Place (Elkton). You can also purchase advance your tickets until May 6th online via HAWKE's website. Starting May 7th tickets will be $35.00 for ages 12 and up, and $20 for kids 5 to 11. Funds raised will directly benefit HAWKE's wildlife rehab and education programs. For additional information call (904) 692-1777. DEADLINE TO GET ADVANCE $30 TICKETS is May 6th. We plan to meet and car pool to St. Augustine, time and place will be determined later, but should leave around 4:00 and return around 8:30 at the latest. This is a very unique event and if you have never been to the rookery you won't believe your eyes. Also, the proceeds benefit H.A.W.K.E. which is the only wildlife rehabilitation group in this area of Florida. Sponsor an exotic animal. (Ongoing collection) We will be taking donations over the next several months to sponsor an exotic animal at the St. Augustine Wild Reserve. It cost $25 per animal and we plan to sponsor as many as we can with your help. We have already sponsored five. Please bring some spare change to throw into the donation jar when you attend an event. H.A.W.K.E. Fundraiser (Ongoing benefit) Help us raise much-needed funds for Humane Association of Wildlife Care & Education. H.A.W.K.E. is the only wildlife rehab facility in Northeast Florida. You can help support it by purchasing a one-of-a-kind necklace of 5 different  critters. They are just $10.00 each and all proceeds go directly to H.A.W.K.E.
