Who We Are

This group came together in March 2001, when Kara Williams suggested that the Women's Center of Jacksonville form a committee to arrange outdoor activities for the volunteers. Kara joined forces with Diane Dyal, Michele Powers and Shelley Bassham and they began planning events ranging from "A Day in the Park" at Hanna Park, to kayaking and birdwatching seminars. This committee eventually decided to become independent of the Women's Center and began to organize events on their own. Word of mouth, email lists and this website generate the information on events. It is an all-volunteer organization. Untamed Adventures plans to expand the number of events as time and volunteer efforts allow. There are no membership fees. All costs are per event. The only requirement for participation is that you must be a female age 18 or older. Current committee members are Diane, Deb, Sally and Pat.
